Synopsis

Dangerous environments that not long ago would have been the stuff of science fiction have become a reality for communities around the globe. “VANISHING WORLDS”, a three interwoven stories documentary, will intimately follow the extreme journeys of its protagonists.

The film will portray the vivid experience of 3 characters and their communities, facing their ultimate fates: An old lady forced to abandon her sinking island in the Indian Bay of Bengal, a  young Yup’Ik Eskimo forced to escape the melting ice in Alaska, and a poor farmer unable to flee the desertification in northern China.

This is the bottom up, real life story of people in the most difficult situation in their life. But beyond their catastrophic fate, they are also emblems of the most encouraging aspects of humanity: solidarity, respect and wisdom thriving against all adversities.
